Homeless Clothing Drive Giveaway at 2 area Homeless Shelters Information:

  • All SOS members or friends in grades 6 through 12 attending Homeless Shelter Trip need to have a signed permission slip turned in by the time buses pull out at 7 AM.

        • This is the FR SOS Signup page, but any SOS members from all 3 chapters can attend.  The sign up for buses from this link is for FR students since it will be a field trip from FR.  If you are are a Plum SOS member or St. B SOS member, you can follow our buses to the shelter or meet us at the shelter.
        • Choose Bus Signup for Homeless Shelter Event and select number of seats that you are reserving and make sure you choose the seats on the correct bus. One bus will be labeled Light of Life Bus and the other will be labeled Shepherd’s Heart Bus   (SOS members can save up to 3 seats for themselves and 2 f)
  • All patrons visiting local shelters meet at Murrysville Shop N Save parking lot at 6:45 AM on February 15, 2018. Buses leave at 7 AM sharp for 2 local homeless shelters.

  • SOS will send one bus and one box truck filled with the donations and materials needed to set up a store front to two Pittsburgh Homeless Shelters.  Each box truck and bus will arrive at one of the two shelters listed below by 7:30-7:45 AM.

      • 10 E North Ave, Pittsburgh, PA 15212
  • If SOS member families want to drive separately to one of these homeless shelters and meet the bus and the SOS group, SOS is comfortable with this arrangement.  SOS asks that these families contact SOS at servingothersouls@gmail.com  to let SOS leader(s) know of other SOS members or families attending each homeless shelter.
  • SOS members, friends, and family will unpack truck and set up store front by using tables, boxes, and coat racks to set up shopping area by 8:15-8:20 AM.  The Homeless of each shelter will start shopping by 8:25 or 8:30 until 9:30 to 9:40 AM.  SOS families will pack up remaining items that could not be donated to either the homeless individuals or the homeless shelter back in the box truck by 10 AM.  Bus and truck leaves site at 10 AM and returns back to Murrysville Shop N Save by 10:30ish AM.
    • Pickup by parents or chaperone should be waiting at Murrysville Shop N Save by 1030 AM.
  • All sign ups for this Homeless Clothing Drive event must adhere to the following stipulations:1.) A total of 3 people per family (up to six may sign up if multiple members from same family in SOS) may sign up to attend the event.  The three could be member and 2 friends or member and 2 family members.

    2.) One of the 3 people per family (two members of the six if multiple members from same family) must be a current SOS member(s) that has paid their dues during the current school year.

  •  SOS can not guarantee the number of homeless that will be present at this event.  SOS asks all families to be open to whatever happens at these shelters as an opportunity to teach our members charity and empathy.
